Brother Andrew J. McMillan Memorial Service
On Saturday, November 18, 2006, a large group of brothers, active and alumni, gathered at the house to pay respect to Brother Andrew “Drew Guy” James McMillan, 1454 on the rolls, who tragically passed away in the summer of 2003. The event was to honor his memory and meet with his parents who made the trip to Orono from Brunswick to present the Chapter with the framed 1912 pin.

The significance is that Brother McMillan was bidding on the pin on eBay just before he passed away and when it arrived in the mail his mother set it aside with most of his belongings. She felt that it was necessary that the badge find its way back to the house where it is currently on display in the Chapter Room. The pin belonged to Brother Scott Livermore, 185 on the rolls of the Beta Eta Chapter, who was initiated in October 1900.

The ceremony was headed up and organized mostly by Brother Ryan Holmes with the help of a few other alumni. With Brother McMillan’s century rapidly approaching, 1554, the actives are hoping that a male family member would be willing to become an honorary Brother of the chapter receiving the roll number of 1554 in honor of a fallen Brother and beloved family member. -William Gove William_Gove@umit.maine.edu
